NEWS : 4th JUNE 2010
Congratulations to former student, Bianca Hopkins, who has been chosen to dance at The Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, London in the Opera "MANON" in July & August.
Bianca's 2 sisters, Verity & Cara, also former FMB&DS students are also doing so well. Verity & Bianca have both performed with Vienna Festival Ballet (on Tour), while Verity is currently rehearsing with a contemporary dance company & will perform at the Edinburgh Festival . Recent graduate from Aust. Ballet School, Cara, has been offered a contract in Germany with Wurtzburg Ballet as from September.
Its very inspiring to our current students when they hear about the success of former FMB&DS students who are realizing their dreams and this is due to good basic training, talent, committment by both the dancers, their parents and teachers but most importantly the determination to go through the ups & downs along the way!!
CONGRATULATIONS, GIRLS !!
Congratulations also to current student Aaron Shaw .
In May, 16 yr.old Aaron, took his Intermediate Level, Royal Academy, London, Vocational Examination and has been awarded DISTINCTION (83%). This was his first classical ballet exam ever!!
Aaron became a student of FMB&DS in February 2009, and has applied himself to CLASSICAL BALLET with great determination and energy prior to having studied Jazz dance in Rockhampton. He had previously only ever done 1/2 hr. of ballet per week !
Aaron has been training in the FMB&DS Full-time Course since February of this year and will undertake a study/audition Tour to Europe with fellow student Claire Hamiltion next January. Miss Fiona will take them to colleagues at several highly reputable schools attached to Professional Ballet & Dance Companies including Basel Ballet where former student Sophia Bell will complete her final year of training from September 2010.
2009 RAD LONDON,
EXAMINATION RESULTS !
In keeping with the excellent reputation of the studio, the 2009 results reflected the high standard of teaching from our faculty and the hard work put in by both teachers and students with an overall 100% Success Rate
with 85 % receiving the highest award "Distinction" and all other students receiving "Credit" .
The RAD standards are internationally recognised which also guarantees the high standard of this Studio.
Special mention should be made of our students who received DISTINCTION - MARKED 90 Plus !!
Two Grade 3 students received 90 and 95 respectively and 4 Vocational students received between 92% to 100%.
PERFORMANCE OPPORTUNITIES
Students above Intermediate Foundation may be trained
in private lessons to compete in Competitions.
They also have the opportunity to audition for Performing Membership with the Fiona Munroe DANCERS Company (formerly The Gold Coast Dancers Co.) where they will perform between 4 to 10 times per year in professionally choreographed Classical Repetoire Ballets (such as "Swan Lake", "Sleeping Beauty", "Nutcracker" etc. as well as Contemporary Ballet's originally created choreography. Rehearsals & Workshops are held on Saturday afternoons and during some school holiday periods. This is for the more committed students.
The Dancers Company also invites committed students from Grade 3- Gr. 5 to become Associate Members. They learn to perform in age appropriate group choreography and this is a great experience and preparation for future performance training without the pressure of competition.
Some of the planned performances are : Friday 24th September - Murwillumbah Civic Centre : October - Guest Artists with Northern Rivers Symphony Orchestra at GC Arts Centre:
Pre-Christmas Season - 21st & 22nd Dec. Venue & Program to be confirmed.
