AUDITION - NORTHERN RIVER BALLET COMPANY ANNUAL AUDITIONS SAT 24TH MARCH 2012

 

NEW @ THE BALLET FACTORY IN 2012

 MOVEMENT PLUS coaches/teachers are highly qualified and experienced in teaching students excellent technique and performance skills in Gymnastics, Acrobatics, Dance and Cheerleading.

Principal teachers Cathy and Grant Cunningham have over 20 years of coaching experience with students of all levels and abilities.

 DANCE STYLES

Jazz/funk, Hip-hop, Tap & Lyrical
Students learn great style, grace, co-ordination & flexibility whilst having fun and keeping fit! Students can chose one style or receive a great discount with the unlimited package.  Classes are suitable for both the casual and more serious student.

ACROBATICS

Students will learn basic Acrobatic skills such as rolls, cartwheels and handstands, kickovers, front walkovers, moving onto Barani, Back flips, Round off Back flips, Somersaults and Stunt Cheerleading.

CHEERLEADING

Combine acrobatics, energetic dance routines, flexibility, and amazing stunt tricks for a “Bring It On” Cheerleading experience! 

 

January 2011

Fiona Munroe - Studio Principal -  took her 2 latest  proteges, Claire Hamilton (16) and Aaron Shaw (17) on a month long study/audition Tour to Europe and  now have lots of happy memories, amazing experiences, and knowledge of the standard/styles of ballet & dance schools of  Professional Dance Companies in Europe.
AARON HAS NOT RETURNED !   (this went according to plan!)
He received an offer of an immediate start at the presitigious  Mannheim Ballet Academy  (associated with the Professional Company ) and will study there at 2nd year of professional training level until September.   He has also received offer for Basel Ballet and the Central School of Ballet, London.
Claire has returned with Fiona (also according to plan)
where she will continue to perfect her technique and artistry until September, when she will attend the Munich State Ballet School.  She also received offers from Mannheim Academy, and Den Haag (Nederlands).  
Congratulations to both dancers who deserve the success they have dreamed of.   
This now takes the total to 22 for dancers who have been trained by Fiona Munroe over the past 12 years to reach this high acceptance level.  Some are currently completing their vocational training while others are performing professionally around the world  in all genres of dance.
    Congratulations !  We are so proud of you !!  Your are an inspiration to our younger students !!!

 

CONGRATULATIONS TO  BRONTE KELLY  !!  (Dec.2010)

Bronte Kelly was one of Fiona Munroe's first students in 1999.    She was a tiny little thing of 6 years of age for the the next 7/8 years studied and progressed  to the RAD Advanced levels before being accepted into The Australian Ballet School .  She has just graduated from ABS  and has now received an offer of a PROFESSIONAL CONTRACT  with  THE ROYAL NEW ZEALAND BALLET COMPANY. 

She is an inspiration to all young dancers who have a dream !!    (it all starts with the first plie followed by years of dedication)

Bronte is the latest former student of The Fiona Munroe Studio to launch her professional career.     Over 20 former students have gone on to graduate training in Australia & overseas since 2001 and many are now enjoying careers in all parts of the world in all genres of dance.

 

NEWS :  4th JUNE 2010

Congratulations to former student,  Bianca Hopkins,  who has been chosen to dance at The Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, London in the Opera "MANON" in July & August.

Bianca's 2 sisters, Verity & Cara,  also former FMB&DS students are also doing so well.  All 3 sisters- Biance, Verity & Cara trained with Miss Fiona from the start of her first Studio in 1999 and studied for 4,5 and 7 years  respectively with her before graduating to The New Zealand Ballet School(Bianca)  Central School of Ballet London - on full 2 yr. scholarship (Verity) and The Australian Ballet School - (Cara)

 Verity & Bianca have both performed with Vienna Festival Ballet (on Tour), while Verity is currently rehearsing with a contemporary dance company in the UK & will perform at the Edinburgh Festival .  Recent graduate from Aust. Ballet School, Cara, has been offered a contract in Germany with Wurtzburg Ballet as from September 2010

Its very inspiring to our current students when they hear about the success of former FMB&DS students who are realizing their dreams and this is due to good basic training, talent, committment by both the dancers, the Studio & their parents but most importantly the determination to go through the ups & downs along the way!!

PERFORMANCE OPPORTUNITIES

Students above Intermediate Foundation may be trained

in private lessons to compete in Competitions. 

They also have the opportunity to audition for Performing Membership with the  NORTHERN RIVERS  BALLET COMPANY (formerly The Gold Coast Dancers Co.)   where they will perform between 4 to 10 times per year in professionally choreographed Classical Repetoire Ballets (such as "Swan Lake",  "Sleeping Beauty",  "Nutcracker") etc.  as well as Contemporary Ballet's originally created choreography.  Rehearsals & Workshops are held on Saturday afternoons and during some school holiday periods.  This is for the more committed students.

The Company also invites committed students from Grade 3- Gr. 5 to become Associate Members.  They learn to perform in age appropriate group choreography and this is a great experience and preparation for future performance training without the pressure of competition.
