The Fiona Munroe Ballet & Dance Studio was opened in 1999. The Gold Coast Dancers Company Inc. was created in 2001. The high standards of the Studio have seen 17 former students go on to professional Vocational training in both Australia & overseas institutions such as:

• The Australian Ballet School,Melbourne (6 students)
• New Zealand School of Dance (3 students)
• Central School of Ballet, London (2)
• West Australian Academy of Performing Arts
• Zurich Ballet School, Switzerland
• Victorian College of the Arts
• Dresden Ballet School, Germany
• Mannheim Ballet School, Germany
• Basel Ballet, Switzerland

Some of these dancers are now performing professionally in Europe, America & Australia.

Fiona Munroe's work as Artistic Director/Choreographer for Gold Coast Dancers Company is well documented. This is the very important performance part of the Studio. GCDC gives the more committed students the opportunity to perform excerpts from the Classical Repetoire (i.e. Swan Lake, Sleeping Beauty, Nutcracker etc.) as well as Contemporary Dance ballets produced by Internationally experienced choreographers at various venues in the S.E. region such as Butterbox, Logan, Lismore City Hall, Robina Auditorium, QPAC, Brisbane and GC Arts Centre.

The Company has performed with Orchestras such as NRSO & GCPO and from time to time Guest Artists from The Australian Ballet or Internationally have performed with the Company. GCDC have also presented collaborative performances with the GC Film Festival and local Theatre Groups. GCDC is open to dancers 10 - 18 years and acceptance is by Audition by the choreographers involved in the current productions.

• 2005, 2007 & 2008 Fiona was nominated for an Honours Award in the Gold Coast Bulletin.
• 2006 was nominated for the Australia Day / GCCC Cultural Achievement Award
• 2008 was awarded "Icon" status on the Gold Coast for her work with G.C. Dancers Co.
• 2009 was nominated for the Australia Day/GCCC Cultural Achievement Award

Fiona is a very "hands-on" principal teacher and although she is well known for her success with advanced students, she loves teaching all levels of students from Tiny Tots to girls and boys in their late teens studying full-time. All Students appear in the December Concert each year.

Watching young students develop into the best dancers THEY can be while at the same time enjoying their studies and developing a love of the art, is Fiona's greatest joy and continuing goal!!
